Roles and Responsibility
The role of the Governing Body is a strategic one, its key functions are to:
- Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
- Hold the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
- Oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure its money is well spent.
Governing Bodies must appoint a Clerk who is responsible for administrative work such as taking and distributing minutes of meetings, giving advice on procedures and ensuring that Governors are aware of their statutory responsibilities.
