Weekly homework in maths and/or English is set every Monday and expected to be completed and returned every Friday. In addition to this work, we expect every child to read at home for at least 10 minutes every day and to practise their multiplication tables. Take Home tasks are also sent home at the beginning of every term. Please look at the list of recommended websites on the class pages for further homework ideas should you wish to. Thank you for supporting your child’s lifelong learning journey at home. If you have any questions regarding homework, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher

Year 4 Multiplication Check
In Year 4, the children take part in a national multiplication check. The purpose is to make sure that children can fluently recall their times tables up to 12. It is all done online – the children have up to 6 seconds to answer 25 mixed questions. On average, the check should take no longer than 5 minutes to complete.
The data is used to make sure that children struggling with their times tables are identified and get the support they need. We will share your child’s score with you, however there is no pass mark.
At Katesgrove, we complete the check on iPads in small groups. We practice using various apps and websites in school regularly so that children are used to the format. The check will take place between Monday 6th June and Friday 24th June.
How can I help at home?
The following websites have practice multiplication checks that you can use at home:

There is a ‘sound check’ which is a practice multiplication check but you can also practice times tables that you might find trickier, as well as play in challenges against friends.
