Term 5 2018-19
Our learning this term
The children have thoroughly enjoyed this term’s topic on Our Wonderful World.
A real highlight of this term was our school trip to Rushall Farm and Ella’s Kitchen. The children loved riding on the tractor and seeing all the animals, especially feeding the chickens. Ella’s Kitchen was great fun too! The children enjoyed planting seeds and learning about all the plants in the garden. The children were very eager to water their seeds every day and watched, with fascination, as they grew!
The children continue to amaze us with their fantastic writing. In Literacy, we have been learning the stories The Tiny Seed and Jack and the Beanstalk. During free flow, the children have been very keen to apply their learning by making story maps, labelling the parts of a flower and sharing stories with their friends (amongst many other things!).
We have been busy in our Maths lessons too – halving, doubling, sharing and properties of shapes are just a few of the concepts we have covered. The children are so keen to apply their Maths in their play which is always wonderful to see. The photographs below show children making repeating patterns, finding half of a number and practising their counting and adding.
Our topic next term is Amazing Animals! We will have our last trip to forest school at the start of term. If you would like to volunteer, then please speak to your child’s teacher.
We hope you have a lovely holiday and look forward to seeing you soon. Please keep encouraging your child to read and write and of course, to complete their ‘wow’ sheet over the holidays. It is always lovely to hear their holiday news!
