Term 4 2018-19
Our learning this term
We have had a fantastic term in nursery!
Our topic this term was called ‘Brilliant Books’. We focused on the books ‘Peace at Last’, ‘Whatever Next’ as well as rhyming books such as ‘Each Peach Pear Plum’ and ‘Rhyme Crime’.
We read the stories ‘Peace at Last’ and ‘Whatever Next’, bringing them to life with lots of story props.
We then drew story maps together and the children used these to practice retelling the story to each other.
Our role play area inside the classroom was a book shop and café. In this area, the children enjoyed being shop workers and customers, using the till to buy books. There were lots of writing opportunities as children wrote opening times on whiteboards and price tags for the books.
We pretended we were going on an adventure to the moon like baby bear in ‘Whatever Next’ and wrote lists of what we would pack in our rockets. The children were also inspired to create their own rockets.
We celebrated World Book Day on 7th March and children came to nursery dressed as their favourite book characters!
