Term 6 2017-18
Our learning this term
This term our topic was called ‘Amazing Animals’. We learnt about a wide variety of animals and the similarities and differences between them. We discovered where different animals live and what they like to eat. We watched a clip from the programme The Blue Planet and the children were fascinated to learn what creatures live underwater.
We had a visit from a dog and a tortoise, with their owner Neil. The children loved holding the tortoise and stroking Bertie the dog, who was very friendly.
The children have spent most of this term in the garden during free flow as we have had some fantastic sunny weather!
We celebrated Bastille Day this term and used our collage skills to create our own French flags.
In Art we learnt about the famous artist Wassily Kandinsky and explored colour mixing, recreating some of his paintings.
Lots of our nursery children are leaving to go to Reception so we wish them lots of luck! They will be very missed. Some of our children are staying at nursery and we look forward to hearing all their exciting summer holiday news when they return in September.
Our topic in September will be ‘Marvellous Me’. During this topic we will be getting to know our new nursery children, talking about the people in our families and what our favourite toys are. We will have a visit from a baby and it’s Mummy.
We hope you all have a wonderful summer.
