Term 5 2017-18
Our learning this term
This term our topic in Nursery was called ‘People Who Help Us’.
We learned about the variety of people who look after us such as police, firefighters, doctors, nurses etc. We studied non-fiction books, learning how to use books and the internet to retrieve information.
We role played making a 999 call and learnt which emergency service to ask for in different emergencies. We learnt some new actions songs such as ‘I’m a fire fighter’ (sung to the tune of ‘I’m a little teapot’).
This term we had some more new children start nursery. They had induction visits with their parents and have now all settled well into the routines. The other children were very welcoming.
We were lucky enough to have a visit from two Police Officers who answered lots of our questions about their job.
We also celebrated the Royal Wedding this term. We decorated biscuits with red, white and blue, watched the wedding between William and Catherine online, learning new words such as bride, groom, church etc and made our own flags to wave! The children wore red, white and blue or their own special clothes.
Next term our topic is ‘Amazing Animals’. We will be having a visit from two pets!
Our role play inside will turn into a Pet Shop and our role play outside will turn into a café, following the children’s interests.
We will be going on a trip to Christchurch Meadows for a picnic and play. Please read your newsletter for more information.
