Term 4 2017-18
Our learning this term
FS2 has thoroughly enjoyed this term’s topic on Brilliant Books. We have covered Julia Donaldson’s The Gruffalo and Michael Rosen’s We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. The children loved telling the stories using a story map and they enjoyed performing their versions to the rest of the class. It was lovely to see them incorporating their knowledge of the books into their play by making the characters and drawing their own story maps.
In Maths this term we have been learning how to double numbers and how to share, amongst many other things. The children picked up these new concepts quickly and it has been lovely to see them apply their Maths to their play.
We have had lots of highlights of this short but busy term. World Book Day/Around the Word Day was great fun! The children learnt about Ecuador, Antarctica and Portugal. They loved making pointillism llamas, penguins and decorating sardines!
The children enjoyed having their mummies and special grown-ups in for a Mother’s Day tea. They made beautiful cards and they worked hard to learn a selection of songs. We hope you enjoyed the story massage with your child. We do this at the end of each day and find that it is a calming and relaxing way to end the school day.
We had fun at forest school too. The children enjoyed looking for signs of spring, making habitats for the woodland animals and having some free play to paint the trees with mud, dig for worms and make clay pizzas!
We are looking forward to next term when our new topic will be Our Wonderful World. We hope you have a lovely Easter holiday and look forward to seeing you soon.
