Term 3 2017-18
Our learning this term
.. for auld lang syne ..
This term’s topic is “Scotland the Brave!” so, of course, we simply HAD to see in the New Year like true Scots folk. We loved the Scottish dancing, wrapped our tongues around some Burns poetry in dialect and weren’t entirely sure about the taste of haggis!
And we have kept a Scottish theme to our learning. In English, we have found out all about Greyfriars Bobby and written our own “back stories” for him. To round off our topic on teeth and the digestive system, we considered what a “real” Loch Ness Monster head and poo told us about this animal’s diet. Then we have proceeded to write informatively about the monster. Did you know that it may well have swivel eyes to watch its prey and camouflage skin to conceal itself?
We can now use 4-figure grid references to locate sites of interest in Edinburgh. Plus, following our trip to the White Horse at Uffington, we have found out what life was like in Scotland at a similar period.
PE this term has focussed on gymnastics while in Maths, we have tackled multiplication, area and division with great success. Altogether a fantastic start to the New Year!
